Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - San Jose CA South Stake Goals 1999

The Stake President, Lynn Shurtleff, has given us these goals for 1999. They were delivered at a stake fireside on Sunday January 10, 1999. If we are faithful, diligent, and prayerful, these goals can be attained. And in so doing, we can make the vision that he has seen happen. That is: that by 2025 there will be 3 stakes where the San Jose CA South stake is now.

The goals can be easily remembered by associating certain keywords from the common LDS hymn "I Am a Child of God".

I am a child of God	I will honor my heritage by finding at least one ancestor for whom temple work may be performed.
And He has sent me here	I will fulfill my mission by providing at least one name for the missionaries to teach.
Has given me an earthly home	Our home will be more attractive at the end of the year than it was at the beginning.
with parents kind and dear.	We will work to create a loving environment in our home by more consistent Family Home Evenings.
I am a child of God, And so my needs are great	I will learn to budget more effectively both my resources and my time. I will have less debt at the end of the year than at the beginning.
Help me to understand HIs words Before it grows too late.	I will take steps to be better prepared for times of emergency. I will not become involved in a panic attitude.
Lead me, guide me, walk beside me,	I will improve the quality of my prayers, I will take time to listen after praying.
Help me find the way. Teach me all that I must do To live with Him someday.	I will read the entire Book of Mormon during 1999. I will concentrate on those things that God asks me to do.
I am a child of God. Rich blessings are in store; If I but learn to do his will	I will continue my program of being more obedient.
I'll live with him once more.	I will focus on my eternal goals by increased attendance at the temple.
